Dr Caroline Cooper
GP Specialist in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, Cambridge

Caroline trained in general practice, and worked in a community clinic in Cambridge, providing integrated contraception and sexual health services and a complex long acting reversible contraception (LARC) referral service. She has now returned to general practice providing a much needed LARC service post Covid.

Her clinical interest are in the areas of women’s health and medical education, and she provides training on communication skills to medical students at Cambridge university.

She is a member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and has served on their training and international affairs committees. Caroline is on the board of the Primary Care Women’s Health Forum with responsibility for Education.

Caroline is committed to providing high quality education for healthcare professionals, and empowering women through providing choice in sexual and reproductive health.

Dr Alan Curley

Dr. Alan Curley is the therapeutic Director of UC- Mindsolutions Ltd, a successful Addictions, MH and Sports Psychology Centre near Glasgow (www.uc-mindsolutions.com), as well as lecturer in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT, at the University of West of Scotland and author of the book ‘Playing the game of your life’. Dr. Curley, is regarded as one of the most qualified trainers of Cognitive-Behaviour change techniques used within the Addictions, Mental Fitness and Sports performance fields. In 2005, he created smoking cessation programmes within NHS Scotland as well as devising the 12 week evidence-based CBT system called the PILAR behaviour Change system.

Dr Catherine Heffernan

Dr Catherine Heffernan is currently SWL Public Health Consultant at the Southwest London Integrated Care System and Director of Health Improvement at SWL ICB. She’s also a visiting senior lecturer at King’s College London. She has over 20 years’ experience working on immunisations, including 9 years as Principal Public Health Advisor for Early Years, Immunisations and Vaccination Services at Public Health England and NHS England (London Region). She has also published widely on improving vaccine uptake and coverage.

Dr George Kassianos is a GP, National Immunisation Lead for the Royal College of GPs, and President of the British Global & Travel Health Association. He chairs the Pan-European Group RAISE (Raise Awareness of Influenza Strategies in Europe – 21 countries), Board member of the European Scientific Working Group on Influenza (ESWI), Editor of VACCINES Special on ‘Advances in Influenza Vaccines, Deputy Editor Drugs In Context, and editorial board member of a number of medical journals. In October 2020, Her Majesty the Queen appointed Dr Kassianos Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in Her Birthday 2020 Honours List, for his services to General Practice and Travel Medicine.

Esther Kuria is a Nurse Consultant in Gynaecology with 30 years’ experience in Nursing of which 20 have been in Women’s Health. Esther has strong interests in education, development & implementation of patient care pathways. She sits in the Women’s Health Forum Committee of the Royal College of Nursing and is a Member of the British Gynae oncological Cancer Society, British Menopause Society and Kenyan Nurses & Midwives Association UK.

Ren Lawlor is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Independent Prescriber in London and the south east. She currently works as the academic tutor and advanced practice lead for the South East London Training Hub and is a visiting lecturer for various universities including the University of Greenwich. Ren has a special interest in respiratory disease in primary care and is the vice chair for executive committee, and the chair for the education committee for the Primary Care Respiratory Society (PCRS-UK). Ren is the founder and director of The Good Practitioner - Education and Training.

David Morris

David is a retired GP from Bridgnorth Medical Practice, Shropshire where he had responsibility for diabetes within the Practice. More recently he retired as a Specialist Doctor in Diabetes at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. David continues to work as an Undergraduate Clinical Tutor at Keele University and examiner at Aston University.

Since retiring as a GP, David has made several visits as a volunteer to a health clinic in rural Tanzania, providing advice on the running of a diabetes clinic. He has also participated with Virtual Doctors – a charitable on-line advice service for Health Care workers in Zambia and Malawi.

Diabetes education is an issue about which David feels very passionate. For many years he has contributed articles to a number of journals, led teaching sessions and given presentations on diabetes (most commonly to primary care audiences).

Professor Ian Peate OBE FRCN

Professor Ian Peate is a prominent figure in the fields of nursing and health care, he is Editor-in-Chief, British Journal of Nursing, Founding Consultant Editor Journal of Paramedic Practice and Consultant Editor International Journal for Advancing Practice. He is a respected nurse academic, author and editor with extensive experience in education and practice. Ian has authored and edited numerous textbooks and articles on nursing and health care, contributing significantly to the literature. His career has spanned various roles, including clinical nursing, nursing education and leadership positions. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of nursing and was awarded an OBE for his services to Nursing and Nurse Education.

Emma Rickards

Emma qualified as a nurse with a Bsc (Hons) in Nursing studies then soon after, completed her Msc in Professional Practice with a pathway of difficult asthma. As a keen researcher/practitioner Emma is PhD student studying End of Life Care for patients with COPD in ED and as part of her studies has undertaken her Mphil. For this Emma has received the Florence Nightingale research scholarship 2017/2018 and again 2018/2019. Emma is also currently undertaking her MBA. She also has a variety of publications and abstracts surrounding different elements of respiratory care. Emma is the Vice Chair of the Respiratory Disease Sub Committee and Respiratory Nurse Acute Lead for ARNS.

Ravijyot Saggu

Ravijyot has a hospital background (Medicine & Emergency services with Respiratory specialism) and with an interest in teaching, is an honorary clinical lecturer. She was Chief Pharmaceutical Officer’s clinical fellow (‘21/’22 at NHSE) and recent Medicines Optimisation lead in a community trust. Ravijyot is chair of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association respiratory committee and has been part of NICE/British Thoracic Society (BTS) & European Respiratory Society guideline development committees. She is a coach (including for National Respiratory Audit Programme), NICE Associate, member of the RPS’ hospital expert advisory group, and council member for Asthma lung UK. She is passionate about sustainable, personalised and holistic care for patients, population health/integrated care to reduce health inequalities She sits on a range of committees including at NHSE and their Respiratory clinical reference group and has various publications.

Jane E Scullion

Jane is an experienced Consultant Respiratory Nurse formerly working at the University Hospitals of Leicester and now working independently, and also as an Associate Expert Witness. She is also the Education Lead for the UK Inhaler Group and passionate about all things respiratory.

Julie Van Olsen

Julie is a Dermatology Lecturer Practitioner; with 30 years’ experience as a dermatology clinical nurse specialist, in primary and secondary care. Julie works for skin support groups, including the National Eczema Society complex helpline. Julie is a health care writer and past editor of the BDNG Journal, Dermatological Nursing. She is a PCDS committee member, teaching HCPs and working on service development projects UK-wide. She works clinically at SkinHealthUK in skin cancer detection clinics. Julie is passionate about improving care for people with skin conditions through developing educational initiatives for both healthcare professionals and patients throughout the UK.
